Arco successful in the Tekla Global BIM Awards 2022 competition
The Tampere Arena project was selected as the winner of the 2022 Tekla BIM Award in the competition's Sport & Recreation category.
The Tekla Global BIM Awards, held every two years, select the winners in eight categories from among the world’s most impressive construction projects designed with Tekla software.
The Tampere Deck and Arena project was selected as the winner of the 2022 Tekla BIM Award in the Sport & Recreation category.
The project and the conditions at the time were highly complex, as a living oasis was built in the middle of the urban area on top of the railway. The team from SRV Rakennus Oy, Ramboll Finland Oy and ARCO Tampere worked on approximately 500 models using Tekla Structures, Tekla Model Sharing, Trimble Connect and Trimble® SketchUp®. A preliminary InfraBIM-based information model was created as part of the project. The project involved innovative infrastructure and transport planning, and simulations were used for traffic management. Sustainability was considered in a number of ways. For example, a condenser heat recovery system and solar collectors were used in the project.
The overall winner of the competition was T2 Allianssi with its Helsinki Airport expansion project.
