THE HIETALAHTI AREA IS WAKING UP TO THE NEEDS OF A GROWING HELSINKI. THE MARKET SQUARE AND THE SURROUNDING MARITIME ENVIRONMENT ARE IN NEED OF A RENEWAL AS THE CITY EXPANDS WEST.
Our proposal added an alternative plan to develop the area alongside the other proposals. The initiative for the proposal came from the area’s residents and operators, who were particularly worried about losing the maritime nature of the market square and the shrinking of the historic dock basin. The plan was drafted in collaboration by ARCO and Ramboll.
