Tampere Deck & Arena has won the 2022 Tekla BIM Award and the public vote
Kohteen palkintoperusteluissa nostettiin esille, kuinka innovatiivisesti ja laajasti tietomallinnusta on käytetty läpi projektin kulun.
The award citation for the project highlighted the innovative and extensive use of building information modelling throughout the project.
The Tekla BIM Awards in Finland and the Baltics are held annually and recognise the best construction projects using modelled data. The best projects from the 2021 and 2022 regional competitions are entered into the biennial Tekla Global BIM Awards competition.
The winner of this year’s competition for Finland and the Baltics, the Tampere Deck and Arena is a versatile project in a challenging location. Building information modelling was used in a truly innovative and extensive way throughout the project. Modelling was carried out by all project design disciplines, and the project involved extensive stakeholder engagement. The site had invested in occupational safety and used simulation and real-time progress monitoring through modelling. The data obtained was used to coordinate the work of the different contractors. The site also had to take into account the train traffic under the building. The project had implemented an InfraBIM-compliant source data model, which included all available source data for the area. A wide range of infrastructure and transport planning was carried out and simulations were used for traffic management. Sustainability was considered in a number of ways. For example, a condenser heat recovery system and solar collectors were used in the project. The most important solution was to forgo a parking garage, favouring public transport. The project is also an architecturally significant site, with a sculptural form that fits the site perfectly.
