Finland’s oldest fell hotel destination is being reimagined through a new masterplan.

The protected log-built hotel, originally completed in 1948, will remain an integral part of the ensemble. The new hotel is positioned behind it, on an already developed site.

At the core of the design are landscape integration, management of wear, and carefully framed views towards the surrounding fells. The new building is embedded beneath a turf roof, becoming part of the fell silhouette. Timber slatted façades introduce a human scale and provide privacy alongside large glazed surfaces.

The aim is to guide use in a controlled way within the hotel area, while integrating a new layer into the national landscape – a place where Finnish fell tourism has deep historical roots.
