Located in the heart of Helsinki, the Citycenter shopping centre has undergone a renovation of its commercial spaces.
The first phase was completed in 2019 with the renewal of the K1 level, which acts as the main link between the station tunnel and the street level. In the second phase, completed in 2022, a conceptual design was created for the public spaces on floors 1–3 and new toilets were designed for floor 2.
The project site makes use of materials typical of the period of construction: brass, wood and concrete surfaces with an accent colour, green marble elements, and muted black on the shopfronts. Brass details have been used particularly in the signs and skirting boards. On the K1 floor, the old luminaires have been completely upcycled into new luminaires.
