Built in the 1960s on Helsinki’s Bulevardi, this office building was given new life as the first design hotel of the IHG Indigo chain in the Nordic countries.
Located in the heart of the Punavuori design district and close to the shipyard, the hotel wants to highlight the history of its surroundings. Hotel Indigo Helsinki Boulevard is a boutique hotel of high standard with a fresh and modern interior.
The hotel has 120 rooms: 105 deluxe standard rooms, 14 executive rooms and one Junior Suite. The hotel also features a Body, Mind & Soul studio with a gym, yoga room and sauna. Restaurant Bröd Punavuori is located near the hotel lobby.
Arco was responsible for the principal, architectural and interior design of the hotel. Hotel Indigo Helsinki Boulevard was awarded the title of Finland’s Leading Boutique Hotel 2021. The new hotel building was built to be highly energy efficient, and it achieved the Gold level of the international LEED® environmental certification.
The hotel’s new façade is made of lightweight zinc plate. The challenging job was carried out by experienced sheet metal worker Esko Kivi, who was awarded the Rakentamisen Ruusu award for his work.
