Kisapuisto is a day-care centre project of the City of Tampere in the Hervanta area. The 12-group day-care centre was the winning proposal in a quality/price competition.
The brick-clad building sits in the middle of old apartment blocks and forms its own miniature world with its large courtyard. The Kisapuisto park has been integrated into the day-care centre yard, providing shade and greenery.
The colour and material scheme is light and fresh. The openings are playful, the massing is clear, and the building reflects its purpose. The design of the space solutions is based on innovation, adaptability and efficiency. At the centre of the building is a tall shared space with a pleasant view of the playground. Height differences and a partially high dining room add spatial interest to the interior. The group rooms are quiet and easy to navigate.
