The plots in Sompasaari residential neighbourhood 10635 were allocated based on the 2015 competition results.
The communal tower block neighbourhood consists of the joint building venture Sumppi, the state-subsidised (Arava-funded) Kaljaasi, and Hartela’s non-subsidised residential buildings Pooki and Pelagia.
The area consists of a uniform 5–6 storey building mass and 8–12-storey tower elements situated into the corners of the complex. Creating a spirit and strong identity for the area have been the starting point for the design process.
The homes have windows on two sides of the building and offer several possibilities for modification according to the changing life situations and housing needs of their inhabitants. The shared saunas are located on the top floors and have a magnificent view of the horizon. A roof garden with a summer kitchen has been built on the roof of the lower buildings. The parking spaces are located under the courtyard, in the buildings’ common above-the-ground parking facility.
