WE DESIGNED COMFORTABLE SPACES THAT SUPPORT THE CHANGING WORKING METHODS AND COMMUNITY SPIRIT OF UNIVERSITY SERVICES ON THE JOENSUU CAMPUS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF EASTERN FINLAND.
Following the successful transformation of the working environment of university services on the Kuopio campus, similar facilities in Joensuu were also renovated using a proven working environment concept. The client wanted the spaces to be adaptable and elegant in style, with clean lines and broken natural tones.
Although the design of the university services facilities on the Joensuu campus was based on the working environment concept implemented on the Kuopio campus, the Joensuu campus was intended to have its own personal style and a clean, fresh look that complement the building’s architecture. Existing high-quality wooden surfaces were preserved, and the rooms were made fresh in style with the choice of loose furniture and lighting solutions. The new workspaces are well-furnished, with meeting and retreat areas where everyone can find a place and a way to work alone or together.
The furniture, lighting and technical building services were designed to be adaptable, making it easy to build new work and retreat spaces in the new university services facilities in the future, for example, as needs change.
