The Pyynikin trikoo factory site is located in Tampere.
Our task was to draw up a plan for the conversion of the factory block into residential and service buildings as a basis for a change in the local detailed plan.
The task also included an inventory and evaluation of the building stock surrounding the factory block. The design is based on preserving the historic block structure, the shape and scale of the outdoor spaces and the role of the courtyards as internal traffic routes.
The plan builds on the idea of a manufacturing district as a small town. The link between new construction and the industrial milieu and the cultural landscape of Pyynikki Esker has been studied in the infill development.
